The mobile telecommunication company, Zain resumed operation in Duk Padiet County of Jonglei State after three years of network shutdown.
In 2017, the company reopened its network in the area but it was quickly shutdown due to what the firm described as technical problems.
Speaking to Juba Monitor yesterday, Elijah Manyok, the Acting commissioner for Duk Padiet County said the mobile telecommunication company becomes operational since 20th July, 2019.
He stressed that resumption has now connected residents of Duk Padiet to the rest of the world.
“The citizens were cut off for years but now, the resumption makes communication with those in far areas easy especially for us in the government. With this network, we can voice our concerns since we are cut off from Jonglei by the floods,” he said.
The official applauded the Zain mobile operator for it services in Duk Padiet and called on the company to boost its coverage.
“It would be meaningless if locals do not enjoy the network maximally. So I urge the telecommunication to improve the coverage so that the locals enjoy the intended services,” Manyok stated.
The restructured network covers 15 kilometers areas within the county’s headquarters.
According to the acting commissioner, the residents were happy to receive Zain network as they had been experiencing serious challenges.
