Youth kicks off training on peace dissemination tools

More than 40 youth from different parts of Juba have started training on Art for peace as one of the dissemination tools.
The Art for Peace training project organized by Global Empowerment for Poverty Alleviation (GEPA) would equipped youth with the skills on how to use musical instrument and song as one way of spreading peace to the communities in the country .

Speaking during the launched of the training yesterday, Program Coordinator for Global Empowerment for Poverty Alleviation (GEPA) , Paul Onek Isidoro said his organization is looking forward to build capacity in different group within Juba and others states in order to helping them to use tools of music to disseminate peace information to the population.
“Our target is that the whole youth across the country should participate in this very important event but because of limited funding we could not reach other States.
“We received funding from United State (US) Embassy in Juba and could not cover whole states but it helps us to create impact within a Juba,”he added.
Currently we believe that base on impact that we would have got from working within youth in Juba that would help us to make more decision to reach biggest number of youths within different capital across 32 state,” Onek said.
He reveled that his organization has started with the capacity building of the youth in order for them to actively participate in the upcoming event that would be organized later on.
“We have computers for training three different categories and that is those who are going to use Rap, Graffiti and Deejaying as tools of disseminate peace,” Onek said.
He revealed that after the three-month training the winners from different categories will get cash prices after training completion.
“So far the number of youth that organization targeting is 30 groups members that about 3000 youth who will participate in the event,”said Onek.

James Oyet, one of participants applauded the GEPA organization member for experience that we learn from organization it is first time for me to gathering together with different people coming from different areas.
“we are been looking opportunity since because some of us have idea to create something but if you don’t have support you will not manage to achieve. Right now, I have experience how to do deejaying (DJ) music this my talent I have more experience from it,” Oyet said.
