By Mandela Nelson Denis

South Sudan Youth Organizations Coalition, an umbrella of over twenty-five youth bodies is demanding for establishment of Youth Enterprise Development Fund.

Speaking to the press in Juba yesterday, Christine Kide said Development Fund should be established so that funds are allocated to cater for ideas that can generate income and business amongst the youth across the country.

“We want the development fund to be established so that the youth in South Sudan can benefit and help fight unemployment”, said Christine.

Meanwhile the Chairperson of South Sudan Youth Coalition Peter Malir revealed that Chapter four of the R-ACSS exclusively mandates the Revitalized Transitional Government of National Unity to implement robust economic reforms that will enable the population to enjoy peace dividends.

“As stipulated in article 4.15.1.4 of the R-ACSS and constitutional provision in article 201A5© as per the interim constitution of South Sudan 2011, as amended, the RTGoNU has an obligation to expeditiously establish the youth Development Fund to support and promote entrepreneurship among young people,” said Peter.

He further explained that youth unemployment still remains the biggest challenge facing governments in developing countries including South Sudan, Peter acknowledged that the youth development fund is a popular strategy to address the underlying socio-economic inequalities.
