Women football competition on in Aweil

Women and girls’ football competition is going on in Northern Bahr El Ghazal to promote peace unity and reconciliation in the State. The event started on Monday.

On Monday, the Hope Africa organization South Sudan together with United Nations Development Program launchedwomen and girls’ sports competition under the theme “Strengthening Peace and Community Cohesion”

Speaking to Juba Monitor, the Executive Director for Hope Africa AduolAduolYel said that sports were the backbone of a nation that brings the younger and old people together.

“Many people think that girls are not interested in sports as boys. We must do a better job of supporting our daughters ‘participate in sports adding girls and women who are in sports had higher levels of confidence, self-esteem and lower levels of depression,” Aduol said.

He added that girls and women simply do not receive the same positive reinforcement about their sports participation.

He revealed that the organization planned to bring both girls and women in sports activities to keep the body healthy.

 Abuk Bol one of the playerscalled for continued support for sports to promote peaceful co- existence among different communities in the states.

She added that Hope Africa organization wasa committed non-governmental organization supporting games and sports in the area. He said the activities would help those idle youth to be engaged in identifying their talents in sports.

He further called on Hope Africa to introduce other games and sports such as hand ball and female football to also enable the ladies compete in the activities.
