When shall I meet President Kiir?
By Malek Arol Dhieu.
I am not a political lobbyist, I am not an assassin, and finally I am not a go-between but I am a mere loyal medical student seeking a moral support from H.E Salva Kiir Mayardit. The first time I started wanting to meet him was on 3rd October 2013 when I was in search for sponsorship and the last time I attempted to courteously visit him was on Friday 13th March 2020 in his office at J1 but prevented from entering by presidential guards which is not bad at all because if they do not do, we would hear something else. That day was my 11th attempt to meet him. I have been arranging to first meet with protocol officers so as to follow the procedural pattern of meeting him but my appearance does not even make me be asked a simple question that goes ‘’what can I do for you’’, instead I am chased like a dog. I guess the day I am asked ‘’what can I do for you’’ could be the day my meeting with the president is nearing. I came to liken him not only during struggle for self-determination, because any president can tirelessly struggle to get his own country but also during wars after independence where he handled rebellions and rebels with delicacy and indescribable wisdom until today, peace has prevailed. This showed South Sudanese and rest of the world that a lenient and pardonable leader who perseveres like President Salva Kiir can never be gotten. Though gotten, he/she can never be a kind president of all times. In his commitment to bring durable and sustainable peace, he has created a bizarre history by accepting the existence of five vice presidents in the Revitalized Transitional Government of National Unity in which the other countries at wars would use as a reference when their warring parties reach an agreement. Not only that, he has also signed an agreement in which he was told not to change any comma, full stop or add or omit any statement just for the sake of peace, in which no living president committed to peace on earth can do but Salva Kiir alone. Beside, how many public apologies did he make wholeheartedly to South Sudanese compared to the other side where even half an apology is not heard one day. Anyway, I am not trying to bring back what have generally been agreed to be called ‘’bygones’’ but trying to exhibit to the rest of the people that President Salva Kiir is a fully accredited president. So whoever has not yet believed in him will have nobody on earth to believe in. I know I have made a very big mistake to reveal this truth, but it shall set me free as the Bible says. The Republic of South Sudan is a land of great abundance as the national anthem says, and because of that, it must be led by a president whose focus is to protect its territory and resources, people and sovereignty, and to take it to the next level by emulating the rest of the countries. Not me alone who wants to meet the president but every South Sudanese too wants to meet him to tell him a word of thanks for saving lives and dignities of South Sudanese by signing the revitalized peace agreement. Despite trials by the enemies of peace to break the container of peace so that peace escapes away, peace itself has accepted to prevail whatever hindrance that occurs but this is not understood yet by spoilers, meanwhile the indefatigable spirit of South Sudan has declared peace to exist. This is evidenced by comparing peace hindrances happening now and those that had happened during the other agreements of the past years, hindrances happening now such as two attacks in Ruweng Administrative Area that claimed the innocent lives of 11 people were those that took people to the bush again after signed agreements but every warrying party now swears by God not to go back to the bush again but to address the hindrance with possible solution, which sounds fabulous. That means enemies of peace are doing an also-ran activity that they will regret later on. As the article concludes, I want the heaven and earth to hear me on saying, Salva Kiir Mayardit must continue living to inspire other leaders and to be a living dictionary and consultant for leadership, and on top, to reap the plants that he has been watering and caring for all along. May the Lord Almighty God long his days on earth, Amen.
