Well-wishers give The Bright Stars SSP 65, 000 ahead of Uganda clash

The Chairman of African National Bank, Amin Akasha, the Chairperson of SPLM Youth League Emmanuel Lubari and Dr. Tong Chor, the Secretary General of the South Sudan National Olympic Committee gave the national team a total of SSP 65,000 as the Bright Stars finalized preparations to play Uganda Hippos this Saturday.
The well-wishers paid a courtesy visit to the training camp of the Bright Stars yesterday. A visit the South Sudan Football Association (SSFA) officials said came at the right time when the team needed it most as they prepared to overturn a 5-1 goal deficit against Uganda in the first leg of the AFCON qualifier tomorrow.
Amin Akasha gave the U-20 team SSP 40,000 while Emmanuel Lubari, the Chairperson of SPLM Youth League gave SSP 25,000 to motivate and support the boys.
They also delivered inspirational speeches to the team and assured them of their continuous support such that the national team being the symbol of unity in South Sudan qualifies for the second round of the competition by overturning the 5-1 deficit at the first leg.
The President of South Sudan Football Association, Francis Amin Michael thanked the three visitors; Amin Akasha, Emmanuel Lubari and Dr. Tong Chor for the generosity.
“I would like to give special thanks to our visitors for their courage and effort to support the team at this critical time when the team requires moral, ethical and financial support in order to achieve their expectation,” Amin said.
He assured the public that the match will be played at Juba Stadium not in Uganda, adding that the association did not receive any letter from CAF citing the closure of Juba Football Stadium from hosting international matches.
“These are just rumors,” Amin said. “We shall play our match here on Saturday (tomorrow) and I request our fans to turn up in and cheer the Bright Stars.”
The Uganda Hippos will arrive in Juba today and shall train at Juba national stadium before their encounter on Saturday.
The match kicks off at exactly, 4: 00PM but the gates open from 2:00PM.
