Voice for Change (VFC) organization in collaboration with Care International has embarked on Coronavirus awareness campaign in Luri payam of Central Equatoria State.

The campaign is targeting five areas in Juba county but so far, the organization has covered two areas namely; Gurei and Luri. The organization is in an effort to assist the locals in these communities.

Voice for Change (VOC) with support from the Care International Organization are championing the campaign for locals to access the information on coronavirus preventive measures.

While speaking to Juba Monitor, the Executive Director of Voice for Change, Dorothy Drabuga said that the campaign on Coronavirus is geared for people to protect themselves from contracting the virus.

“We are doing this campaign for our people in grassroots level because some of them have lack of information of COVID-19. We feel that it is very important for us to keep updating this awareness so that the community will get to understand that COVID-19 is a real disease and they need to protect themselves against it by observing the healthy guidelines from the Ministry of Health,” Drabuga said.

She added that since the wake of COVID-19, Voice for Change decided to integrate awareness on the pandemic in all programs to the community with which we are working alongside to bring awareness to the people in grassroots levels.

She revealed that most of the people don’t believe that COVID-19 is real because others say that it has been around for a long time while others say that this virus is for only white people.

“We are doing the awareness because the communities in grassroots lack information and health guidelines but since we started this campaign, at least people are now able to use their facemask. Currently, some of them have now learned preventive measures given to them especially washing hands and avoiding of close contact with other people,” Drabuga added.
