UNITY, gov’t must be formed on 12 Nov- Kiir

President Salva Kiir said yesterday that the Revitalized Transitional Government of National Unity [R-TGoNU] must be formed on time by 12th of November.
“This R-TGoNU must be formed on 12th November, 2019,” said President Kiir.
He was speaking during the opening ceremony of the 7th Command Council conference at the Ministry of Defense and Veteran Affairs General Headquarters in Bilpam under the theme “SSPDF transformation and challenges of implementing the R-ARCSS.
President Kiir said he told Dr. Riek Machar before going to Khartoum to nominate his delegates members of the Parliament and members of the Executive that are to be appointed in the next government of national unity.
“Up to now he has not yet presented the lists of his nominees,” Kiir said.
He expressed his happiness on the ceasefire holding nationwide “I am happy that the ceasefire is holding across the country and I urge the army to embrace and maintain it for the welfare of the people of South Sudan,” Kiir added.
President Kiir urged people to remember that peace is expensive and comes with consequences stating that some people will also lose their position to give peace and stability a chance to prevail in the country.
The Minister of Defense and Veterans Affairs, Kuol Manyang Juuk said the conference will draw resolutions and recommendations in line with the Revitalized Peace Agreement. He urged the army to welcome and work together with the army of the opposition.
The three days’ command council Conference comes as an effort to brief the Army on the status of the Revitalized Peace Agreement with focus on the transitional security arrangement, permanent ceasefire, cantonment, reunification, training of the unified forces and strategic defense security review.
