A nationwide programme seeking to supply fuel across the country was lunched in Juba on Thursday last week.
The Minister of Finance and Economic Planning Salvatore Garang Mabiordit together with other government officials inaugurated the commencement of the large supply of fuel into the country by Trinity Energy Limited at its deport.
Akol Anei, a member of the board of directors of the oil company said they had already imported about 100 tanks of fuel to Juba.
According to Anei they would be supplying up to 200 fuel tankers every week into Juba and other parts of the country.
He however called on the line ministries to support the petroleum companies so that fuel scarcity in the country is solved.
“For us to have sustainable supply in the market we need support from the line ministries so that we don’t get shortage of fuel in the markets,” Anei said.
In his part, the governor of the Central Bank Dier Tong said he would provide all the necessary support the petroleum companies needed to make sure there was enough fuel in the markets.
“We will support them with the necessary support to make sure the prices of goods were stabilizing in the markets,” he said.
The deputy minister of interior Riaw Gatlier urged the company to extend the supply to other parts of the country.
The undersecretary in the Ministry of Petroleum Mayen Wol urged Trinity to sell the fuel in reasonable prices to the consumers.
For the past years the State owned cooperation-NilePet has been the sole importer of fuel into the country.
With the lunch of this massive programme, it is not clear whether Trinity was taking over the role from NilePet.
