Three people reportedly died in a tragic accident

Three people have died in a road accident in Juba near ministries along airport road on Saturday, an anonymous eyewitness confirmed.

The eyewitness told Juba Monitor that some three dead bodies were covered with white sheets as people searched the wreckage of the vehicle for more victims.

“As I was returning to Thongpiny from Munuki at 8:30 pm yesterday (Saturday), I saw a crowd of people gathered just few meters away from the Gudele junction to Airport road and as I got closer, I noticed that there was an accident. I could see three bodies lying on the ground and completely covered with white sheets and people continued to search the car for more people,” the eyewitness explained.

It is not clear what caused the accident or how it happened, but pictures of the remains of the vehicle shows badly damaged vehicle with some stains of blood on the ground.

When contacted by Juba Monitor yesterday, the Police Spokesperson, Maj. Gen. Daniel Justin confirmed that the accident occurred late Saturday evening saying there were no details reported to police concerning the accident.

“We had an accident yesterday night (Saturday) along Airport road, a small car overturned but the details are not yet with us….it was one car but no details are available now,” Maj. Gen. Justin said.

Majak Arol, the Assistant Inspector General for Traffic Police also confirmed that the accident occurred but said it was not reported to the traffic police adding they were still probing the accident.

“I just asked Daniel Wani, the Director for traffic police of Central Equatoria, he told me there was an accident but by the time the traffic police personnel arrived at the scene, they only found the wreckage of the vehicle and we have launched investigation into the incident,” he said.
