As heavy rain continue to be experienced in several parts of Jonglei state, the whole area of greater Twic East has been cut off from Bor due to floods.

Jonglei State authorities said the road connecting greater Twic East counties and the state capital Bor has been cut off due to over flooding.

Speaking to Juba Monitor yesterday, Twic Central County commissioner Mr .Dau Akoi Jurkuch said there were no goods reaching out to greater Twic East counties due to inaccessibility.

”There is no accessibility for people to come to greater Twic East counties. The life has become very hard as there are no goods coming to the counties,” Jurkuch said.

”The condition is very terrible. Some of the people are surviving on the leaves of the plants and some little vegetables grown,” he said.

Mr. Jurkuch appealed to the national government and the humanitarian agencies to rescue the people from the situation.

He added that the floods have disrupted the state’s plan to rehabilitate the areas. ”We had started road rehabilitation but now we are unable to continue due to the heavy rain in the state,” Mr. Jurkuch said.
