Thirteen arrested over murder in the camp

Thirteen suspects have been arrested over the murder of 6 South Sudanese in Uganda refugees’ camp last week.

Josephine Angucia, Spokesperson of the Police in West Nile Region Uganda confirmed the incident to Juba Monitor.

“One young man called Ajute Rahman Yassin was looking after cattle near the resettlement camp and that he was assaulted by refugee youth,” Angucia said.

Angucia said that the young man was trying to run to his uncle who is the LC II Chairperson of Kwill parish, Odraku village Rigbwo Sub County.

She said, while the victim was rushed to nearby health centre for treatment, some youth mobilized themselves and attacked refugees at the camp.

 She added that security authorities immediately intervened at the scene of the clashes as investigations were on-going.

 “The security is still hunting for other suspects as our investigation continue,” she reiterated.
