SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION ON THE EXPERIMENTAL SECTION OF ASPHALT PAVEMENT CONSTRUCTION FOR JUBA-RUMBEK ROAD UPGRADING PROJECT IN SOUTH SUDAN BY SHANDONG HI-SPEED
With the dump truck pouring the asphalt mixture into the hopper of the paver at 6:30 am on May 18th, 2020, the construction of the asphalt pavement on experimental section for Juba-Rumbek Road Upgrading Project had officially commenced.
The asphalt pavement is being constructed from K3 + 520 to K3 + 900 section of the Juba-Rumbek Road Project with a total length of 380 meters, of which the net width of the asphalt surface is 10 meters and the 7 centimeter- medium-sized particle asphalt concrete (AC-20) is adopted. The asphalt paving adopted the full-width and one-time paving construction technology, which effectively puts an end to the longitudinal construction joints, reduces the road surface water infiltration, and improves the driving comfort. For the successful paving of the experimental section, we collected various data, verified the production proportion, determined the construction techniques such as machine combinations and compaction times, and reached the purpose of guiding the construction of large-scale asphalt surface.
In order to ensure the high quality and high standard of the completion of the paving operation, the Project Management Department installed and debugged the asphalt mix plant in the fastest time and organized technical personnel to carry out detailed technical training and safety disclosure for mechanical operators and site administrative staff. As for the on-site staff frequent mobilization, we formulated an epidemic prevention and control planning. During the road paving, on-site construction personnel are stringently complying with standardized operations, and the project management personnel have monitored the entire process of construction. Through the unremitting efforts of all employees, till 3:00 pm, the entire asphalt experimental section was successfully paved, and all indicators met the specifications and design requirements via test.
The successful completion of this construction had not only provided a reference as well as a solid foundation for stepping into the next large-scale asphalt pavement construction, but also boosted morale among employees during this pandemic of COVID-19. More importantly, it underpins the staff solidarity for the construction task of this strategic road project.
