Press Release

The South Sudan Basketball Federation is the sole authority and the official governing body of basketball as the sport in South Sudan. Since its establishment in 2013, the federation has been championing promotion of basketball as a platform for empowering young people; develop their skills and talents as well as promoting peaceful co-existence amongst the communities across South Sudan.

As manifested in our slogan, “Build the Game! Build a Nation! One Nation! One Goal” SSBF is giving South Sudanese an opportunity to interact, build a culture of national identity and celebrate unity in diversity. Through basketball sports, we have also been promoting young men and women with skills to showcase their potentials and opportunity while competing at home and abroad.

We already have footprints of our basketball potentials at the global stage through, FIBA, NBA, and other world Basketball associations.  Our aims and hopes as SSBF are to make South Sudan a basketball powerhouse in coming years, Making South Sudan a basketball nation.

And for that to happen, we must be organized and prepared to meet the global standard, which is why SSBF is here to announce the launching of it  Google website. This is not just a website to store SSBF data but a platform that will serve as part of our global strategic communication and a channel of sharing with the world the best of basketball in South Sudan.

In partnership with The Nile Foundation and MTN, SSD.BASKETBALL is the first step in the modernization efforts of SSBF to maximize its outreach program by attracting people around the world to read, learn and understand SSBF activities.

The new SSD.BASKETBALL (via Google Chrome) will also help SSBF connect rural basketball activities to state associations’ program. The launch is to bring the basketball supporters together, increase awareness, and showcase South Sudan’s basketball skills and talent in an All-Star match, in Nimra Talata Basketball Stadium, in Juba, on the 29th of September Friday, 2017 from 2:30pm – 8:30pm. With a special insert by Ater Majok, a proud native son of South Sudan that had the rare opportunity and privilege to play basketball at NBA and Chinese Clubs.

We believe basketball is the best tool to educate and develop youth to work hard, strive to be good citizens, self-actualized, accomplish their dreams and be productive in South Sudan and in the global arena. We take this opportunity to invite everyone to join us on Friday.

Sports is the way to bring people together to not only build a game but build a nation.
