Sudan People’s Liberation Movement in Opposition (SPLM-IO) has condemned the attack in Upper Nile State.
On Saturday, last week, seven people were reportedly killed and four others wounded in the Paloch area of Melut County in Upper Nile State when they were attacked by an armed group.
The wounded people are receiving treatment at the Paloch Hospital, noting that the attackers fled but security forces were searching for them.
Speaking to Juba Monitor yesterday, the director for Information and Public Relations for SPLM-IO Puok Baluang said the SPLM-IO had condemned systematic attacks on the people of certain ethnicity in Paluoch and Melut of Malakal area.
“The Sudan People’s Liberation Movement in Opposition has strongly condemned the attack by militia group known as Abu-chook by Apadang. We condemn it in the strongest possible terms because we believe such conduct will hinder the fragile security situation in the state of Upper Nile,” Baluang said.
He added that “we are here in Juba searching on how we can reconcile the community and we urge the government and South Sudan People Defense Force (SSPDF) on the ground to investigate search activities and bring to book the responsible this conduct of targeting members in the areas.”
