SPLM/A-IO refutes Dr. Machar’s exile

The SPLM/A-IO Information desk in Khartoum has invalidated the rumor circulating on social media that Dr. Riek Machar Teny has been given asylum officially to be accommodated and exiled in Addis Ababa.
They described it as “malicious propaganda and fake news created by anti-peace elements.”
Director for Information and Public Relation of SPLM/A-IO, Puok Both Baluang said that the Ethiopia passport picture with the name of Dr. Riek Machar was used maliciously by the enemy of peace.
On Tuesday, news has been circulated in the social media that the government of Ethiopia has given Dr. Riek Machar asylum officially to be accommodated and exiled in Ethiopia capital Addis Ababa.
According Baluang, the passport pictured on social media was issued to him by the Ethiopian government to ease him for the quest for peace while visiting Addis Ababa on the invitation by Dr. Abiy Ahmed Ali, Prime Minister of Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia to convene the first face-face meeting between him and President Salva Kiir Mayardit in June 2018.
“The SPLM/A-IO would like to assure members, the people of South Sudan and the public at large, that this is a mere propaganda and wishful thinking. Dr. Machar is still in the Sudanese Capital Khartoum where he was placed under house confinement by the IGAD since he was transferred from Pretoria, South Africa on June 24th 2019,” Baluang told Juba Monitor yesterday.
“The SPLM/SPLA-IO would like to caution members to be vigilant and should not succumb to this malicious propaganda and fake news by our partners in peace to create division in your glorious movement,” he added.
