South Sudan Youth Talent Award scheduled for Mid-May in Kampala

South Sudan most prestigious youth award known as the Youth Talent Award has been scheduled to take place on 15th May in Kampala, Uganda.

The awards will celebrate the culture of South Sudan according to its organizer Sky Domoch. The event will bring majority of youth living in Kampala to choose the next Miss and Mister SSYTA 2018.

Domoch who is currently in Kampala in preparation for the event told Juba Monitor in a phone interview yesterday that the theme of this year’s award is “our diverse culture and fashion for peace”.

He revealed that he was inspired by the diverse cultures of the country and hoped the cultures would unite the youth in and out of the country.

“Our country is blessed with so many amazing cultures and fashions that the rest of the world has never seen, the sixty four tribes should be the source of unity and bring us together for peace,” Mr. Domoch said.

The event that always attracts thousands of youth comprising of students, government officials, business community in Kampala, Domoch hopes this year’s event will inspire everyone to work towards peace.

“As we draw closer to the award day, I hope whoever comes will realize how urgent we need peace in our country and I wish we all rally for peace, so that the past glories of the country can be regained,” he lamented.

Prince Martin, one of the contestants for Mister SSYTA 2018 Category told Juba Monitor that peace can only be achieved if youth join hands to work together.

“I am glad for being part of this award and I pray that the event will unite us, reminds everyone that we can achieve everything if we work together for peace back in our country,” Martin said.

Yeka William, a student in Kampala told Juba Monitor in a Facebook chat that he cannot miss the event since it brings together South Sudanese living in Uganda.

“I look forward to the day, it is time we meet our old time friends, it’s a unity day to me,” Yeka said excitedly.

Legend John Kudusay has been confirmed as the guest artist of the day according to the organizers. Artists such as Rocky J, Check Young Bullet, and Samuel Mabuto will perform, hosted by Mc Okwandit.

In 2017 Nelson Mabor and Nosa Longar won Mr. and Mrs. SSTYA awards respectively.

The award was started in 2015 with the aim of appreciating talented South Sudanese in different aspects of life such as music, dance and drama.
