The Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security has indicated that through the Israel modern farming system being used by the Green Horizon, the country will soon start exporting food to other countries.

Speaking during the celebration of the Israel Independence day at the premises of Green Horizon in Juba on Saturday, the Minister of Agriculture and Food Security Onyoti Adigo said that South Sudan will soon stop importing food from other countries if the modern farming systems are extended to most parts of the country.

The minister said a few weeks ago he visited the Green Horizon farm at Jebel Ladu where the modern farming technologies were being used.

“I am very sure that with the groups of Israelites in Agriculture in South Sudan we will stop importing food from Uganda and Kenya in the opposite we will be the one to export to those countries,” the agriculture minister said.

“In comparison, our land is more fertile than that of Uganda and Kenya so we appreciate the work of Israelites, we need to cooperate with them because the cooperation is very important,” he added.

He said the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security was planning to take all the foreign Ambassadors in the country to see the modern system of farming by Green Horizon in order for them to do something similar for South Sudanese.

He said other parts of the country are secure for the government and other international friends to produce food on large scale.

“If you think that you can wait until the peace come it will come and it will not help South Sudan. South Sudan will move ahead with its best friends like Israel. We are going to work hard in order to fight hunger and poverty,” minister Onyoti said.

On his part, the Managing Director of Green Horizon, Yoash Zohar said that global group (Green Horizon) believed in the modernization and stabilization and welfare of the communities in South Sudan.

“Global group has over ten years of experience in developing innovative solution that successfully revolutionize regional economies and improve the lives of million people,” said Zohar.

Global group (Green Horizon) designs and run projects in a rage of areas that include agriculture, food security, infrastructure, transportation, technology and water solution.

In South Sudan the group is doing modern farming in Juba, Torit, Ruweng, Wau and Bor with varieties of food crops and vegetables.
