A soldier belonging to the national army has kicked a teenager in Rumbek town dead over argument on prices of sweets.
The 16-year-old boy was a pupil of Ager-gum Primary School and a sweets vendor.
The incident occurred last Thursday close to Rumbek Freedom Square. However, it was not clear what the cost of the sweets was.
In an interview with Juba Monitor, Peter Panda Kuei, a relative of the deceased said the young boy had disagreement over the sweets price with the assailant.
He claimed the attacker was from Tiger Division.
Kuei said the incident took place in his presence in the market, and urged the government to deliver justice to the deceased.
“The soldier who took away the life of the innocent boy must be taken to court for trial,” he asserted.
The headteacher of Ager-Gum Primary School Jeremaiah Muorater Kuc condemned the killing of the school boy who used to raise his fees through the sale of the sweets.
“This little boy was studying here in Ager-gum primary school, after classes he could go and sell sweets along the road near Rumbek Freedom Square,” Kuc said.
Police investigator in Western Lakes State Major Eli Majur Bech confirmed the incident.
He said investigations were going on and soon the suspect will be sent to court for trial.
