The Joint Defense Board has appealed to the national government to have a budget for the implementation of the peace agreement.
Speaking during the Joint Transitional Committee (NTC) DDR Coordination meeting organized by RJEMC in Juba, the Co-Chair of Joint Defense Board Lt Gen Gabriel Duop Lam suggested that there should be a block account for the peace agreement implementation.
“Without budget, the implementation of the peace agreement cannot succeed,” said Gabriel.
He further explained that development partners will come to help after seeing the government taking lead.
Meanwhile the Minister of Peace Building Stephen Par Kuol, said that the Disarmament Demobilization and Integration Commission should be supported because of being the most important element of the peace agreement.
“Without support, DDR cannot do much,” said Kuol.
