SCHOOLS-To reopen soon

The Ministry of General Education and Instruction has revealed that there is preparation being done to ensure safe reopening of schools in the country.

Speaking during the celebration of the International Literacy Day, the Minister of General Education and Instruction Awut Deng Acuil said that there was preparation across the country so that schools can open.

She revealed that there teams in the states are doing assessment for safe reopening of schools in South Sudan.

“The Ministry is working on reopening of schools, there are teams in the states doing assessments, whether there are enough teachers, schools to be disinfected and ensuring that there are wash facilities,” Awut said.

However, she added that distance learning is happening on Radio stations and Television Stations in the country but also acknowledged the challenges of inadequate radio sets for every school going child in the country.

Plans are also put in place to ensure that every school going child in the country receives radio sets that will enable them enroll for the long distance learning on the media.

About 2.8million school going children are currently out of school in the country because of the outbreak of coronavirus in the country.
