S. Sudanese student to represent Uganda in world athletics

A South Sudanese student in Arua has been selected to represent Uganda at the world secondary school athletics competition in China.
The competition is scheduled for April 2020 ahead of Tokyo Olympics.
Chuol John Kuer, a student of Arua Senior Secondary school has six years’ record in the regional 800 meters competitions.
He has been representing Arua district when he was at Mvara Junior primary school.
“I started athletics in primary four and it was my first time to take part in the primary games,” he recalled.
“I participated in the East African games in 2017 in Kenya and also went to Soroti district for the same game and I got the third position at the national level,” he said.
Kuer said he had also represented Uganda during the regional competition in Tanzania.
He said in all those competitions, he has brought at home (Arua) several medals
Kuer who is expecting to set for Uganda Advance Certificate of Education (UACE) this year promised to return to South Sudan.
He urged young people to take sports very serious saying he has been studying for free due to good performance in sports.
