The Administration of Rumbek University of Science and Technology on Monday officially declared a three days mourning over the killing of two students; Baden Riak Dar who was travelling to Rumbek to attend his third year’s second semester along with Majok Malual Manyiel, a student of Upper Nile University.
The angry Rumbek University Students demonstrators took to the street of Rumbek demanding the identification and arrest of those unknown gunmen suspected to be from neighboring Eastern Lakes State who ambushed and killed two students in Eastern Lakes State while they were travelling from Juba to Rumbek.
Kuol Mathubier, a student of first year at the College of Economic and Social Studies at Rumbek University urged the Authorities in Eastern Lakes State to bring the culprits into book.
“This is a high profile killing carried out by criminals from Aluaklual of Eastern Lakes State. It is undeniable that Mr. Baden Riak Dar was killed by the criminals from Eastern Lakes State, but the fact is that they mistook him for an Agar because he was murdered along with a third year Student from Upper Nile University who was an Agar son,” said Kuol
Mark Chol also described the killing of Riak as a barbaric killing which should be condemned by the intellectuals in the Country particularly Eastern Lakes State.
He said, the mediocrity wouldn’t help, because there has been tit for tat killing of students between Apaak and Nyuei clans and no action was taken by the two Governors or commissioners of Eastern and Western Lakes State.
Mr. Titus Makur, a student of Statistic Department in the College of Economic at Rumbek University said they can’t believe the demise of their beloved student who was in third year, Department of BA.
“The Late Baden Riak from Bentiu has been with us since the beginning of South Sudan crisis and this is really a bad image to our University and in Lakes State in particular to lose him as it will be wrongly mistaken. We will really miss you and May your soul rest in peace,” Makur said,
However, the incident occurred on Saturday on Akot and Aluakluak road following another deadly killing of three road travelers between Paloch and Eastern Bahr Naam Counties of Western Lakes State on Sunday.
