Two first half goals sealed Rock Star’s win over Golden Arrow of Jebel Yesuwa to claim the Gudele West tournament trophy on Saturday at Gudele West playground.

Lobo opened the scoring inside 15 minutes for the winners as they finished the first half in smart way before Johnson James doubled their 34th goal which shows the first half end two nil.

However, Golden Arrow boys came back strong in second half but they could not put ball behind net as they wasted a lot of clear chances.

But Wilson Ramadan, the Rock Star striker could not waste their chance as he was left unmarked by the Golden Arrow defenders as the underdogs were left demoralized.

Golden Arrow Boys scored an impressive consolation late on but it was not enough to stop the Rock Star boys from lifting the tournament trophy as their fans keep on celebrating throughout until the referee ended the game with 3-1 as final squad line.

Rock Star boys were so solid defensively with their captain Joseph Loptu in the central defender making it difficult for the Golden Arrow strikers to penetrate through to touch their net easily.

As it stands, Rock Star FC 3 the Golden Arrow Boys of Jebel Yesuwa 1 thanks to goals from Lobo, Johnson James and Wilson Ramadan.

Shortly after the match, Golden Arrow FC Captain A. K. Emmanuel Soko the best player of the tournament thanked his teammates for their well team work and their respect throughout the tournament and also congratulated Rock Star for winning the competition.

“For me we are the best team only that we could not utilize our chances like what we used to do, or maybe we are not lucky because this is what happens with football and as a footballer we do understand that in football especially in such a situation it is only two things that is win or lose,” Captain Soko told Juba Monitor newspaper.

However, he said that losing in the final it always pains but again in the other hand it is like eye opener or wakeup call for the team to prepare and correct their mistakes.

Mr. A.K Soko believed his team may do better and will correct their mistakes in any other tournament.

The tournament was organized by the youth leaders of the Gudele West to promote local football clubs as well as bring youth together.

Speaking after the match, Rizik Khamis the organizing committee appreciated all the clubs which took part in the tournament and encouraged them to continue with the spirit of unity.

He said the main purpose of the tournament was to unite the youth in the area with other different young people together and promoting their talent as footballers

“This tournament was meant to bring our young boys together especially our Gudele west boys who were known all over Juba of involving themselves in criminal activities particularly Nigga groups which made them to see each other as enemies, that is why we came up with initiatives that can at least bring them together,” Mr. Khamis said.

According to Khamis, sports is the only tool that can easily bring people together from different backgrounds and communities saying especially for boys who have lost the direction like those Nigga groups in the area.
