RJMEC Briefs Government on implementation of the Peace Agreement

The Reconstituted Joint Monitoring and Evaluation Commission (RJMEC) had yesterday briefed South Sudan government on the progress done in the implementation of the Revitalized Peace Agreement.
Speaking to journalists, the Advisor to the Presidency, Dr. Costello Garang Ring Lual said, he was not around during the peace agreement, he was represented by the Vice president Hussein Abdulbagi Ayii.
‘I am happy and lucky to have the general here to brief me about the progress and what have been achieved, what is missing and what to be done,this will help me in my journey to Europe and probably to the United States to mobilize support for the people of South Sudan and for the peace process too’, Advisor told journalists.
He further added that he had learneda lot from Maj. Gen. Charles Tai Gituai about how things were going even though difficulties were still there.
‘We are optimistic with the help of the President, I think we will overcome whatever difficulties thatwe might face in future. We also have people with experience who are willing and determined to help the people of South Sudan’, he added.
Maj. Gen. Charles Tai Gituai, the Interim Chairperson of the RJMEC however said, he had briefed the Advisor on the implementation of all the chapters, what is pending and the strategy for the future.
‘‘as you are aware that in this agreement since the eighteen months transitional periodwhat have been done so far, we need to be able to fast-knack what is left so that within the period that is left now we can see some improvement particularly regarding chapter two, which we think it is very critical for the success of this agreement’’, he said.
