“I today congratulate IGAD head delegations and UNHCR team and on behalf of Sudan government, we are going to coordinate the resettlement of refugees among countries of Horn Africa,” he said.

However, Ambassador Affey Ahmed the special envoy to UNHCR commended the government of South Sudan for hospitality and he is extending his gratitude to Sudan government leadership for initiating the process in Khartoum last year.

Affey also urged the whole government and the society to create safe condition for displacements populations.

“I urge you to ensure the voices and views of displaced persons as well as the communities hosting them reflected. There will be continued dialogue and exchanges in the months ahead in preparation for the High- level Summit, and IGAD-led process through support of UNHCR and other stakeholders.

Currently, 840,000 South Sudanese are still in Khartoum under the protection and humanitarian assistance provided for by the UNHCR.
