Rainfall forecast for August 2020 released

The IGAD Climate Predication and Application Centre (ICPAC) said in its rainfall forecast released last week that Wetter than usual conditions over most of the region are expected over much of South Sudan, Kenya, Uganda, Sudan and the rest of IGAD member states.

In terms of temperature prediction, IGAD Climate Predication and Application Centre predicted that warmer than usual mean-temperatures are expected over much of northeastern areas of South Sudan, northern regions of Sudan, eastern and southern parts of Kenya plus the Intergovernmental Authority on Development member states.

The Centre continued by saying that cooler than usual mean-temperatures are expected in some parts of Southern Sudan, central South Sudan, including eastern Ethiopia, eastern Uganda, and western Kenya respectively.

IGAD climate prediction and application Centre (ICPAC) is an organization that is dedicated to provide warning against climatic hazards and destructive weather to its member countries where the Republic of South Sudan is inclusive.  

According to a tweet by South Sudan Metrology department on 2nd of August 2020, from 1st to 10th of this Month, Heavy Rainfall above 200 mm is expected in Renk, Pariang, Abiemnhom, Abyei, Unity, Duk and Timsaha with Moderate Rainfall 50-200 mm expected over most places in the country.
