Police in Yei arrest suspected teacher’s killer

Police Commissioner in Yei River County, Central Equatoria State on Wednesday said a suspect has been arrested in connection to the murder of the head teacher of Excel International Secondary School.

Speaking to Juba Monitor on Wednesday, Yoasa Lujang Kamba explained the murder of the head teacher created a negative image to the public.

He revealed that the culprit is believed to be a workmate of the slain head teacher.

“The death of the Head master brought a lot of fear and tension in the town but because of the prevalence of the law, we were able to contain
the situation, the head teacher is actually called Gofin Aphimani,” Commissioner Lujang expressed.

“He is the headmaster of Excel International secondary school murdered on Wednesday in Lomuku one area and since then the security apparatus is at watch to apprehend the suspect but good enough the first culprit has been arrested,” he said.
Lujang  said the suspect is known by the name Bakasia Godfrey and he is the finance administrator in the same  school, adding that both are Ugandan nationals,’’ stressed the police
commissioner.
The official said the investigations is still ongoing
saying the perpetrators will be brought to court for trials.
“The case is now under serious investigation and the law will take its course. With such cases we don’t always delay investigation; we have finished with the suspect but there are still cross questions that
will face him,” added Lujang.

The police spokesperson urges the citizens of Yei River county and other foreign nationals not to panic assuring them that the security organs are always alert and vigilant to protect them.
