Police given a week to bring to book Shirikat culprits

The police have been given one week to complete their investigations and bring to book those behind the Shirikat incident which resulted in the death of five people..

 Police spokesperson Maj. Gen. Daniel Justine confirmed to Juba Monitor yesterday that total arrest of 21 people, one succumbed to injuries and died leaving those behind the bar to 20 in number.

“Initially 21 suspects were arrested including six guards of the late Lual Akook Wol Kiir while the rest are civilians but one of the soldier died,” Daniel Justin said.

However, he did not disclose the identity of the officer who died in custody.

Last week, on Thursday, President Salva Kiir formed a committee to investigate the incident that occurred in Shirikat

He directed the committee members to dig dipper and find out the facts on what led to the incident that resulted in the loss of lives and destruction of properties.

Shirikat shooting led to the death of five people with several others injured according to the authorities.
