Over 90 graduates from Aweil celebrate

Ninety four students of Aweil Students Association under University of Juba from various faculties celebrated their graduation yesterday at Nyakuron Cultural Center in Juba.
Among the graduates one of Juba Monitor Reporters namely Wek Atak from the Collage of Community Studies and Rural Development, department of Development Communication and Public Relations.
The graduation ceremony under the theme: “Education is the passport for bright future,” was organized by Greater Aweil Students Association.
Speaking to Juba Monitor in an interview, the Chairperson of the Greater Aweil Students Association Machar Aru Mou said that it was a great achievement regardless of the pandemic.
“It is a great achievement even though we are in the crisis of coronavirus,” said Aru.
The Chairperson stated that this is the 8th graduation ceremony since 2012 when the association was initiated and this year the number of graduated students from Aweil have increased from fifty eight to ninety four.
He said that last year they were able to graduate thirty six students with seven ladies and twenty nine gentlemen, while this year, they have eleven ladies out of the ninety four.
Aru said that the number of male graduates always surpasses the ladies saying it is a challenge to the country. He urged parents to encourage girls to go to school.
He also revealed that they have admitted two hundred seventy two students this year out of which thirty are ladies and two hundred fourty two are boys.
