Over 16,000 students offered admission

At least 16, 768 students have been offered admission in five government public universities in the country Minister of General Education and Instructions Deng Deng Hoc said.

He was speaking on Monday in Juba on behalf of the Minister of Higher Education at the press conference to announce new admission intake results for academic year 2020.

“The Ministry of Higher Education Science and Technology wishes to inform the public and holders of certificate of secondary school education 2019 who applied for general admission that the national admission committee has passed the admission results 2018/2019.

The process targeted 17000 candidates. However, the planned number for admission received from universities were 16,768, out of this 5695 candidates were considered for diploma and 11,073 for bachelor degree,” Deng said.

He said there was a slight increase in the number of the applicants in 2019 compared to candidates who applied last year.

“The announcement of this admission results is very important. This group marks the last to be nominated late. The next admission 2019/2020 shall hopefully be done on time,” he added.

The Minister reiterated that the directorate of admission will still consider those who didn’t meet selection process a second chance to apply.

“Those who are not nominated together with those who did not apply are advised to apply in the next round,” the Minister reiterated.

Job Akuei Director General for admission in the Ministry of Higher Education said they admission committee do not segregate students with foreign certificates saying it should be authentic.

“In our admission process, we are not targeting anybody at all. Our principle is fair and transparent, it is not a secret for public, anybody sitting anywhere on the globe can come with the certificate to the country of origin and that certificate must be authenticated,”Akuei explained.
