President Salva Kiir said other political parties signatory to the Revitalized Peace Agreement were ready to form the new government as on 12th November 2019 except the SPLM/A-IO.
He said Former Political Detainees, South Sudan Opposition Alliance and other political parties were satisfied with the report from the cantonment sites and unification of the forces as well as national security and formation of VIP forces.
“So the government, the former detainees, South Sudan opposition Alliance and the other political parties are all ready for the Revitalized Transitional Government of National Unity to be formed by 12th November 2019,” Kiir told parliamentarians during the opening of the parliament yesterday under the theme “Moving forward in the spirit of peace, unity and Nation building.”
“Only the SPLM-IO of Dr. Riek Machar is opposed to the formation of the Revitalized Government of National Unity because they are saying the security arrangement was not fully completed and demand for another extension of the pre- transitional period,” he added.
He said the report from Joint Military Commission, Joint Defence Board [JDB] is encouraging.
“The ceasefire is holding, meaning generally the country is secure and the people are all secure,” he said.
He said the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD), African Union and United Nations Security Council directed the government to form the next government on the 12th November.
