One person was wounded and another one went missing in a road ambush, authorities in Duk County, Jonglei state said.
The leaders said the attack was carried out by unknown gunmen at the outskirts of Duk Padiet town on Wednesday morning.
Elijah Manyok Ayiei, the Acting County Commissioner, told Juba Monitor that the two men fell into an ambush of the armed men while on their way to Pagak.
“The incident took place between Patuet and Duk Pagak in the morning. A man identified as Wany Yak was injured while his companion Wituor Yai is missing up to now. Local youth and the police in the area are searching for the missing one,” he said.
Manyok said the injured person is being treated at a health facility in the County.
While addressing the participants during the closing of the Jonglei-Pibor Administrative Area peace conference earlier on Wednesday, President Salva Kiir said he will not intervene again if communities in Greater Jonglei engage in ethnic conflict.
“Next time you go for fighting, I will not come to help you again, and even, I will not appoint any committee to go and investigate the fighting in that area,” Kiir told the participants.
