Official urges Gov’t to increase teachers’ salaries

The Chairperson of Specialized Education Committee in the Transitional National Legislative Assembly Ahmed Mohammed Musa has urged the government to increase teachers’ salaries.
He raised the issue during the celebration of the International Literacy Day yesterday at the Ministries complex in Juba.
Speaking at the event, the Chairperson said many teachers were being paid 1000 which cannot enable them teach in three classes.
“Government should increase the salaries of teachers in order to keep them teaching,” said Mohammed.
He added that the government should release money as soon as possible to the teachers so that they can afford to stay in front of students.
