Nine Covid-19 cases confirmed in Lakes State

At least nine (9) Covid-19 cases have been confirmed in Lakes State, authorities in Yirol hospital said on Monday.

Dr. Marial Chewir Koch working at Yirol hospital told Juba Monitor that the nine positive cases were found among the health workers working at Yirol hospital.

“The other 8 cases of Coronavirus positive cases were tested after the first was found. Now, the accumulation of positive cases of coronavirus in Yirol stand at nine people in Yirol hospital,” said Dr. Chewir.

He said the testing kids are not enough for testing everyone from Coronavirus pandemic in Yirol.

Dr. Chewir said the state government has dispersed more doctors from Rumbek in order to reinforce work at the hospital in Yirol.

He appealed to the national Ministry of Health in Juba to supply Yirol hospital with enough Covid-19 testing kits.

“We are appealing to the government in Juba to urgently supply testing kits so that everyone working in Yirol hospital should be tested of coronavirus,” he appealed.

The Doctor revealed that most of the people who tested positive for Covid-19 in the state are between the age of 30 years and more.

He said the nine coronavirus positive patients have been put under isolation room for 14 days.

He further called on the health partners in Lakes State to help complete the renovation of the isolation Centre in Yirol hospital.

“We also urge our people that we are now facing a challenge since nine positive cases are found today. But we want everyone to wear facemask, wash hands regularly with soaps or ash and maintain social distancing,” argued Dr. Chewir.
