New chairman for Customs Association elected

The Association of Clearing and Forwarding Agents based in Nimule have elected Deng Daniel Ayuen as their new chairman on Sunday.

Deng takes over office from Magok Alowei who was the interim leader in charge of the South Sudan Clearing and Agents Freight Forwarders Association.

While speaking to Juba Monitor from Nimule John Garang the head Electoral Commission, revealed that there were three contestants in the Race and it is the role of the new Chairman to form his own team.

“We had three contestants and the result that was democratically witnessed saw Deng Daniel Ayuen win with 61%, Isaac Lemi followed with 35% and Mading John Yak got 2%”, said Garang.

Garang also revealed that the New Chairman will serve the country for a term of two years and then another leader will be ushered in.

In a phone interview Deng Daniel, the incoming Chairman told Juba Monitor that he will do his best to make things right at the Nimule Customs.

“ A era has come for us to make things right for the benefit of South Sudan, we will work together with the government and other development partners to ensure that our visions and missions are achieved”, said Deng.

Deng vowed to ensure that the relation between the government and the clearing and forwarding Agents in Nimule are strengthened.

South Sudan Clearing Agents and Freight Forwarder Association according to Garang is a registered body that brings together all the clearing and forwarding agents at all the border points in the country.

Garang revealed that Deng Daniel has been tasked to form his team and take office in a week time so as to move the body forward.
