MTN celebrates ten years of operation in country

MTN South Sudan has launched its 10th anniversary celebration with a mega promotion “MTN Ashara” as a gesture of gratitude of giving back to their customers.
Speaking during the launching of the celebration day, the Director General for the National Communication Authority, Napoleon Adok Gai commended the good services rendered by MTN in the country.
“We are not only celebrating the 10th anniversary of MTN but we are also celebrating the ten years of South Sudan anniversary, the population of the Republic of South Sudan has walked this journey with MTN,” he said.
Meanwhile, MTN South Sudan CEO Gordian Kyomukamo said, MTN core belief is that everyone deserves the benefits of a modern connected life.
“At MTN, it is our core belief that everyone deserves the benefits ‘of a modern connected life. Growing Together symbolizes MTN’s journey in South Sudan since 2011,” Kyomukamo said.
“Today, MTN launches a mega promotion “MTN Ashara” to kick start the celebrations of our 10-year journey by giving back to our customers as a gesture of gratitude,” he added.
He continued that, over the decade, MTN South Sudan, have grown on innovated business partnerships, and served millions of customers saying that MTN is here to stay to serve the people of South Sudan.
“True to our Core belief, MTN never quit and indeed we continued to run our operation in South Sudan throughout the 10 years despite the challenges.”
“We are proud of the progress we have made and continue to make as we connect the people of South Sudan and providing solutions to families, businesses, communities and the population at large,” he added.
He said MTN is positioned to contribute and participate in the digital transformation of the African Continent and partner with nation states to drive meaningful socio-economic progress.
Mr. Kyomukamo further added that MTN is an African company and brunch founded in 1994 in South Africa MTN’s Fortune is intertwined with the fortunes of the Continent (in 17 countries in Africa) and this forms our mission of purpose.
The launch of the 10th anniversary celebration was also graced by the outgoing and incoming MTN Group, Vice President for South, East Africa and Ghana Region Ebenezer Asante and Yotanda Cuba.
In her remark, Yotanda Cuba, the new MTN Group Vice President, for South and East Africa Region notes that “MTN started operations back in 2011 with less than 40 staff, but today boasts of over 120,000 direct and indirect.
“In 3 years, we have invested over $85million and paid over SSPIOJ billion in taxes and Fees, we are grateful for the opportunities we have had to deliver several first-of-kind projects over the past 10 years, the most recent one being the 40 technologies in the country.”
She further promised continued investment in the Network expansion to different parts of the country. Connecting them to the rest of the world and bridging the digital divide.
“MTN has played and has to continue playing in the economic development and Digital transformation of South Sudan at 29% mobile penetration, there it still more work to be done.
The celebration was launched under the theme: “MTN@10 Growing Together”.
The 10th anniversary celebrations will be kick-start with the MTN Ashara Mega Promotion and would be giving away 10 cars, in weeks.
Doe-Tamales Saint MTN South Sudan Chief Commercial Officer said, the MTN Ashara promotion is the biggest promotion in South Sudan. In recent memory and is our gesture of gratitude to our customers.
“Our customers make us who we are and their participation in this promotion is our way of celebrating them,” she added.
“In addition to the 10 cars, ‘the MTN Ashara promotion will also give out 10 motor bikes MTN@1O giveaways like laptop bags, smart watches, headphones as well as Free Airtime and MTN Wala bundles,” she revealed.
According to him it features a TV commercial, radio, print and billboards advertising; with an interactive digital campaign also launching this next week.
The MTN Ashara starts From June 7th, 2021 and all recharges on MTN network above 1000 SSP will qualify to enter the promotion.
