Minister Achuei, Dr. Anib dodges media on standoff
By James AtemKuir
The Minister of Health, Elizabeth Achuei Yoland her Undersecretary, Dr. Victoria Anib Majur yesterday avoided a request for interview over the row over reshuffling of directors.
Dr. Anib, the undersecretary recently reshuffled and changed heads of departments in the Ministry of Health, and reassigned director-generals and director on the directives of Vice President for Service Cluster, Hussein Abdelbagi Akol who ordered for reorganization of the administration of Juba Teaching Hospital which had been rocked by series of strikes by staff demanding arrears, pay raise and provision of benefits.
The changes commissioned by Dr. Anib did not go well with her boss, Elizabeth Achuei Yol who swiftly cancelled “all subsequent appointments, decisions and directives made by the undersecretary without prior consultation” inan apparent retaliation for the lack of recognition as the most senior administrator of the ministry and failure to seek her opinion before effecting the changes.
Juba Monitor tried without success to reach both officials for comments on the matter but.
A communication officer with the ministry who was not authorized to speak to the media about the matter said the senior servants did not want to comment, saying it was the Vice President Akol who should have a say on the matter.
