Member of SSOA joins SPLM-IO

A senior member of South Sudan Opposition Alliance (SSOA) from Warrap State has joined Sudan People’s Liberation Movement in Opposition (SPLM-IO).

Yesterday in Juba, Madut Akuocpiir Madut, a member of South Sudan Patriotic Movement within the South Sudan Opposition Alliance (SSOA) who was also the former Apuk East County commissioner under defunct Gogrial State announced that he was joining the SPLM-IO.

Last year, Madut Akuocpiir Madut resigned from SSOA citing poor administration in the party.

According to Mdut, a lot need to be done in order for his former party to get organized to become a real party that has the vision of achieving something for South Sudanese.

“SSOA as a party that we all hope that has the vision of leading this country has lost the direction just because of poor administration, so last month I decided to resign and stay without party.”

“But after that, I identified SPLM-IO as the only party that has the clear vision of taking this country forward because if you look at what Dr. Machar is doing is really great, Machar can interact with its party members and can also get the views from his members and consider what the members are saying that is how a party has to be, than owning it as individual party,” Mr. Madut stressed.

According to Madut, the SPLM-IO has been fair in observation of 35% for women, inclusion of young aged people as required by the Revitalized Peace Agreement.

“The last two years in SSOA I have neither seen the formation of the secretariat nor a known number of the members of the party. A party should be for the interest of the people and we do not even know where we are going and for that case I have decided to resign,” Madut said.

Madut said his joining SPLM-IO party is not for anything apart from peace, adding that people in the country should support the leaders of the country in order for peace to be in place.
