The Minister of Information, Communication and Postal Service Michael Makuei Lueth has confirmed being positive with coronavirus.
Makuei who doubles as the National Government spokesperson confirmed having tested positive to COVID’19 but no member from the response team had made a follow-up or gone to check on him. The minister however, did not reveal to Juba Monitor when he tested positive to the virus.
Makuei is the third senior government official to have declared publicly to be COVID’19 positive after the First Vice President Dr. Riek Machar and Minister of Defense and Veteran Affair Madam Angelina Teny.
He said that when Dr, Machar revealed that he was tested positive with Madam Angelina Teny, his bodyguards and all member of the High Level Taskforce, in which I was a member, it became obvious that l was COVID’19 positive,” Makuei said.
“I have been quarantining myself in my house and no one from the response team has come to see me in my house or to check on the people I have been in contact with,” Makuei said.
He said that there are also other members in the previous High Level Taskforce who have tested positive.
Meanwhile the Minister of Cabinet Affairs Elia Lomoro has denied news circulating on some media outlets that he refused to take samples as a senior member of the defunct high level task force on COVID 19 for test.
He said that people had gone further saying that “ I am being quarantine at Dr. John Garang Hospital, not even in my house and critically ill. Others said that am dead, which is not true,”
He said this clarification was particularly meant to the leadership of the country, family, friends and supporters that he was alive and sound.
