Let your can’t always be can

By Ngor Khot Garang
Martin Lurther King, the fallen civil rights activist once said “The enemy within is dangerous”.
The enemy within is not a foe within your vicinity that might be lurking to attack you.
It simply refers to the fears and doubts that you have about yourself and it is fierce and deadly than the enemy in human form.
Maybe you are someone who thinks others are more able, beautiful, nice looking and gifted more than you do and the fear that you have, that you might be left behind makes you so sick as to how to outcompete those people so that you feel at ease.
This mental apprehension is common with many people both adults, teenagers and young adults and it is at times the leading cause of stress, drinking and even suicide.
In a world where things go in a zigzag pattern, people are always in constant fear when they see their colleagues succeeding more than themselves and the pain of seeing that they have not moved an inch reduces them to zero level.
It is normal to compete but the best competition is the one you have with yourself.
At certain stages in life, you will come to realize that there is absolutely nothing like competition and that life itself is not a competition.
Some people will be ahead of you, some will come after you, you will overtake some and some will overtake you. Eventually, when time is right, you will get to the place where you ought to be.
It also happens in some situations that some people will experience success before the age of 30, others at 70s and couple may be married for 10 years but without child and some might be married for 2 years and has children.
That’s undeniable truth about life, there is no haste and absolutely no giving up.
If your brother, sister, or a colleague received success earlier than you expected, it does mean he has been competing with someone, it simply means he has working hard to silence the voice in him that has continuously been reminding him of the things that he was incapable of doing.
That voice is inborn and it dies when we want it, you can even realize when you want to do something; maybe starting up a small business or anything of importance your heart desires to achieve.
There will come something that will stand between you and what you want to do and immediately start telling you that it won’t yield any fruit or you can’t.
That natural fear is what we should always strive to destroy, it also comes in form of human being.
There are people who when they see some weakness in you, maybe you are disabled or very retard, they will leave the good part of you and use your weaknesses to tell you that you can’t do it and if you are someone who also believe in that saying you will eventually without question heed their ineffectual words and then you begin to lose your spark.
Do not be deceived by the tantrums that people spit at you or what your inner voice tells you that you can’t amount to anything.
Nothing will deter you from becoming whatever kind of person you wanted to be if you refuse to set limits for yourself.
It is known to all of us that in this world, nobody is interested in seeing you succeeding but there are some elements who will relish in seeing you failing in life.
It is not something new, it has always been and will continue to be that when you are struggling alone, nobody will come to help you when you are almost falling apart but it happens that when you hit your target, you will see thousands of people including those who used to say you can’t make it queuing behind you.
Try to be someone who is not moved by any circumstance surrounding your life, if you think you can’t make it, better think again because if you can think that you can’t make it, why not thinking otherwise?
