Lawyers to elect new leader

A Group of Lawyers in the country have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to elect new leaders.
The election is scheduled for 04th to 05th December, 2019.
Addressing the press yesterday, Liberty Advocates LLP Consultancy and Legal Services Advocate and Commissioner for Oaths Monyluak Alor Kuol said it was important for them to come together unified as one body.
He said they wanted to have essential and effective Bar Association that could see the right zone.
“In compliance with the constitutional mandate bestowed upon the advocacy profession as stipulated in provision of article 136 of the transitional constitution of South Sudan 2011, the Advocates’ groups include South Sudan Bar Association (SSBA), El Giada El Jama’ia, South Sudan Transitional Bar Association, and the steering committee for South Sudan Bar Association, South Sudan Interim Bar Association should come together and work for a common cause.
He added that the groups decided to come together for reconciliation and unification of the profession.
Deputy Chairperson of Senior Advocate Committee Dr. Geri Raimondo Legge said they have come together for the sake of unity and harmony and for the legal welfare of the citizens.
“This initiative was started in July 2019 by senior colleagues, senior Lawyers comprising of six advocates and committee. These are lawyers who joined their hands to bring us together into one group,” Raimondo said.
He said they were glad to inform the public that South Sudanese advocates are unified as one people in order to deliver services and demand rule of law in the country.
