A Member of Parliament representing Gemeza County of Terekeka State has called on the Ministry of Interior to deploy a Police Patrol Unit along Juba-Bor road to prevent further attacks.

Last Thursday, unknown gunmen killed two people along Bor-Juba road and injured five others.

Mr. Modi Lomindi Ajuangich had condemned the killing and urged the Ministry of Interior to deploy police patrol along Juba-Bor road.

The lawmaker continued that there was need for collective responsibility to support and motivate the highway patrol police to prevent Highway crimes.

“The Ministry of Interior needs to be encouraged to take up this responsibility seriously. The police can be effective if there is support for them to become more effective,” Mr. Lomindi said.

He said the states of Jonglei, Terekeka, Jubek and Boma need to end road ambushes.

“However, it is our collective responsibility as the people of South Sudan to care for our civil population,” he said.

The lawmaker reiterated that in order to ease work of the police, the locals along the road need to cooperate with the organized forces and help them with necessary information.
