Juba city lawmakers urged to utilize recess

Lawmakers at Juba City Council have been urged to make good use of their recess period.
Peter Loro Paulino, Chairperson of Juba City Council Legislative Assembly, urged the councilors to remain productive during their recess.
“You should go to your area for consultation as well as assess the situation to come up with concrete information for the development of Juba City,” he said.
“I don’t want you to go and rest without implementing what you have gone for .Your work is like for the forces because you can be called any time in case of anything,” said Peter.
“When you come back I will ask everybody to produce the report on what they did during the recess.”
Paulino cautioned the lawmakers against using the recess period to do their own private work.
He made the call on Monday after the approval of the of 2019/2020 fiscal year budget.
Juba City Legislative councilors were supposed to go for recess last month but they were waiting for budget to be passed.
The Councilors are expected to proceed on recess this Friday.
Deputy Mayor for Infrastructure and Development Thiik Thiik Mayardit advised the councilors to put more efforts especially in the areas of peace dissemination.
However one of the legislators who is also the head of Finance Committee Wilson Mamur said the recess will give them time to report from the block that would presented in the August house for the benefit of citizens in Juba and across the country.
There are more than 50 councilors of Juba City Legislative Assembly representing their people in quarter council in the block in Juba city.
They are mandated to supervise the work of executives, making bylaw as well as presenting people in their respective areas of jurisdiction.
