The Indian community in Juba on Tuesday celebrated the 550th Birth Anniversary of Shri Guru Nanak Devi Ji.
Guru Nanak was the founder of Sikhism, one of the minority religious groups in the world and its teaching is believed to have inspired many Indians.
Gati Krushna Mishra, an official at the Embassay of India in his address to the Indian community of the Sikhism faith said that Guru Nanak did not believe in division between people.
“Guru Nanak did not believe in division between people on the basis of color, religion, and race and for this I urge you all to love one another and be united,” said Gati.
Gati added that the Indians should reflect on the teaching of Guru Nanak who preached truth and worked for the welfare of mankind.
“I urge you all to follow the footsteps of Guru Nanak who cared for the welfare of humankind, let us do as he did in order to make this world a better place,” Gati said.
One of the teaching of Guru Nanak teaches people to use wealth not only for themselves but share it with others.
