The Inter-Governmental Authority on Development (IGAD) Council of Ministers will arrive in the country today, the Information Minister Michael Makuei Lueth confirmed on Friday after the regular Council of Ministers Meeting.

The IGAD Ministers will consult with the Transitional Government ahead of the third phase of the Revitalization Forum scheduled to start mid next month.

“Dr. Martin Elia informed the cabinet that a delegation from IGAD Council of Ministers will be arriving on the 30th of April 2018 (Today) and that the delegation was coming for consultation with the government on the revitalization process,” Makuei told journalists on Friday.

The peace talks which was to take place last week was postponed to allow for continuation of shuttle diplomacy” between the parties to the agreement, according to IGAD Special Envoy to South Sudan, ambassador Ismail Wais.

The IGAD Special Envoy to South Sudan Ambassador Wais said there were still wide gaps between the different parties that needed to be narrowed.

The third session of the revitalization forum is expected to take from the 17th May to 21st may 2018.

Despite the signing of the Cessations of Hostilities Agreement last year, the parties to the conflict have continued to violate the agreement.

Last week, ten aid workers were reported missing in Yei River State when they were in an assessment mission to Tore-South of Yei. Their where about remain unclear. No group has yet claim responsibility.

Non-Governmental Organizations have demanded for their immediate release.

There have been reports of fighting between the government forces and opposition forces in the Greater Bahr El Ghazal Region.

The government and the opposition have always blamed each of violating the Cessation of Hostility Agreement signed late December last year.
