Holy Family Parish celebrates 96th anniversary

Holy Family Parish of the Catholic Diocese of Toritcelebratedits96th anniversary on29 December 2021.

Faithful from various places including from Acholi land, in Palolaka Parish, Obbo Payam, and Magwicame to celebrate 96 years of existence of the church since 1925.

The Metropolitan Archbishop of Catholic Archdiocese of Juba and Apostolic Administrator of the diocese of Torit, Stephen Ameyu Martin Mulla appealed to the government to consider provision of tractors to the farmers in Magwi County to produce more food for the country.

“I appreciate the effort of the Diocese of Torit for the massive support given to the transformation process of the people and called for joint efforts to improve the work of the church in rebuilding people’s lives,” Ameyu said.

Area Head of Catholic community in the county called on youths to reject any situation that intends to cause conflict and separate people of South Sudan.

“Let the people that keep faith in and in line with the pastoral vision of Diocese of Torit shape a more vibrant, evangelizing and missionary church in Eastern Equatoria State,” he cited.

Meanwhile, Opio Wilson, the representative of the Governor of Eastern Equatoria State appealed to the people of Magwi to remain united and develop their county.

The county commissioner, David Otto Rumsonurged the people to denounce their differences and embrace the spirit of togetherness and love.

He appreciated the Catholic community for attending the prayers to collectively thank God for their forefathers and contemplate challenges of living out of the Christian faith in this contemporary world.

“The centenary celebration focuses on indispensable parameter and goals of evangelizations which are spiritual growth and development, knowledge and intellectual appreciation of the catholic faith and spirit of fellowship and communion in the Diocese of Torit,” he added.
