“Great South Sudan Run” signs food commodities procurement contract

The popular Great South Sudan Run, whose aim is to help fight famine and hunger, has signed an Agreement contract with Ramciel Multipurpose Society.

The signing of the Agreement comes after a 4 person committee selected from the Run and the Ministry of Humanitarian and Disaster Management were tasked with identification of the most vulnerable household and food commodities.

Mr. Ayalew Teshome the Secretary of the Great South Sudan Run and Mr. George Luate Alfred, the Managing Director of Ramciel Multipurpose Society signed the Agreement in the presence of Hon. Agum Ring the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, Mr. Joseph William Ladu the team leader of Joint working Committee, the Great South Sudan Run Organizing Committee members and representatives of the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management.

Mr. Joseph briefed the attendees of the signing ceremony on the processes the joint working committee has undergone to finally reach at selecting Ramciel Multipurpose Society to be awarded the contract.

In her closing remarks, Agum, the Undersecretary, commended the job well-done by the joint working committee and underlined the high cost of transportation among others as reasons for not reaching outside Juba and its environs.

It was also noted that the food items will be distributed soon after the registration of the beneficiaries and repackaging work is complete.
