Gov’t to launch major agricultural plans today

To end food insecurity in South Sudan and as well over dependency on oil for revenues, ministry of agriculture in collaboration with Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) are due to launch two major projects that are intended to boost agricultural activities in the country.
The Comprehensive Agricultural Master Plan [CAMP] andIrrigation Development Master Plan [IDMP] will be launched today (Thursday) atthe ministry of parliamentary affairswhere legendary artist;EmmanuelKembe is going to launchhis new song of CAMP/IDMP too.
In an exclusive interview with Juba Monitor, John Pangech,the CAMP and IDMP team leader said the purposes of the launch is first to bring different agricultural sectors together to let them know the importance of agriculture in the country.
“We also want to ensure that subsections production in agriculture must be transformed. We look at the point where we want the development of agriculture to take place and participation of private sectors,” Pangech said.
He continued that any individualswho are ready to partake should see that there is a plan that would definitely help them to develop and to really focus on agricultural development.
JICA is leading the campaign for the agricultural development in South Sudan alongside the EU, JIZ, and Canadian Development Aids Agency as well as World Bank to ensure that the government properly manages these two projects.
