A South Sudanese popular Gospel singer, Lupai Mosses, well-known by the name “aka Mosses Prince” yesterday donated 30,000 South Sudanese Pounds (SSP) to the Confident Children out of Conflict (CCC), a children’s home in Juba.
Mosses while handing over the money to Ms. Grace Akello, the Center Manager of CCC, said that supporting the orphans or homeless children is everyone’s responsibility and he called upon his fellow musicians to use their money constructively not by spending on drinking alcohol.
“As I donate this money to these future citizens of this country, I would like to say that the responsibility of these children and the others out there lies in our hands. We have to take it upon ourselves to make sure we support them in any way that we can, so that we can motivate them to work harder and believe that they can be great people in life,” Mosses said.
Mr. Mosses also sent a direct message to his fellow musicians in the country to use their money wisely and he said one of the ways of how to use the money wisely is by helping those who are in need.
“There are so many artists outside there who are using their money wrongly, some people spend a lot of money on alcohol, I am urging them to share with the less privileged children,” Mosses urged as he spoke to Juba Monitor newspaper.
Ms. Grace Akello, the centre Manager of Confident Children out of Conflict appreciated the singer and said that the money will be used to pay school fees for some children that are supported by the centre in schools around Juba.
“We have some children who are supported by the centre in primary schools within Juba and we will use this money to pay for them. Some are in Juba Day, Juba Commercial and other schools,” Ms. Grace said.
She also appealed to other well-wishers to continue supporting the centre in any way they can, adding that the centre welcomes them anytime.
Confident Children out of Conflict Centre houses about 160 children; some are former street children, former child soldiers amongst others. Last Month, another popular singer, MC Lomex donated 40,000 SSP to Juba Orphanage.
